First off is it Marseille or Marseilles, as I’ve seen it both ways?
Second we switched hotels as Aix-en-Provence was too far away. We have a car and can make the drive. But we saw everything that town has to offer in one day. I’m so glad we did as I have no idea how or where we would have parked for the match tomorrow night. The area around the stadium is crazy tight and I haven’t seen much parking.
Also, I found an Olympic store. One of us is estatic and the other is putting holds on the credit cards. I’m sure the Olympic stores in Paris will be even bigger!!!
And…it’s laundry day. I don’t mind laundry but I do hate sweating my ass off on the way to the laundromat and in the laundromat, thereby creating the first pieces of the next pile of laundry. Read that again slowly, it makes sense! And there was a laundromat really close to the hotel but all the streets were closed because of the stadium. So, I couldn’t get there. Sigh. 😔 I did drop a pin where I ended up but no need for team support today. No strange men showed up in the laundromat to stalk me.
Now it’s beer thirty. It seems that the road in front of the stadium is closed, which makes sense as the French men are playing here tonight. Someone at the hotel got my hopes up that the US men were playing, which they are, but not in Marseille.
Martha’s contribution: Okay, I am finally getting into the Olympic spirit and have laid out all of my red, white, and blue clothes for the next few days. I have searched desperately for a nail salon in several countries so I can get fancy nails, but ‘acrylic fills with gel’ does not translate into any language. So I pivoted, bought my own supplies, and went for it just like back in covid times. I don’t think they are that bad; but I certainly won’t give up my day job.
I downloaded the Paris 2024 app and Maggie sent my tickets for our events in case we get separated. I’m scrolling through - I don’t see any Quilting Bees, Drum and Bugle Corps competitions, or Underwater Basketweaving. WAIT! I think I have been misled!?! Is it too late to go back to Barcelona?
Congratulations team USA for a good day! Keep it up! Let’s Go!
