Day 45 - Paris, France

It’s our last full day of Paris and we spent the morning washing clothes and organizing our suitcases for tomorrow’s travels.

Our hotel is a short walk to the Parc Des Princes football stadium so we started out early to walk in and around the stadium getting ready for the GOLD medal game and soaking up the atmosphere. It definitely seemed pro USA.

Martha is sporting her 2002 Salt Lake City beret. I am so impressed she still has it, knew where it was, packed it, and remembered to grab it today. And here is a throw back picture to 2002.

We have seen A LOT of police throughout France, but the number we saw walking, driving, and “horsing” around today, was very impressive. And this was blocks from the stadium. We have felt very safe throughout this trip. Pickpockets are very prevalent in Paris, but not this week.

We made USA friends at a bar near the stadium. Pat, Michele, and Zach! Thanks for letting us share your barrel. Turns out that our seats are only 10 rows apart, small world.

Then it was the game. Stressful!!!!!

USA Gold medal!!!!!! What an amazing game. USWNT just kept fighting and fighting. Great goal by Mal Swanson and what a game by goalie Alyssa Naeher. Just an amazing, amazing experience and soooo glad we were here to live it. Also, it’s Brazil’s Marta’s last international game.

And we stayed for the medal ceremony!!!! What a treat.

And the walk home took less time than one train ride last night. Score one for Maggie’s planning.
