Day 40 - Geneva, Switzerland

We moved again today from Lyon to Geneva. The train ride was two hours and should’ve been boring, but no, nothing is ever boring in M&M Land.

We were on the train in our seats right next to the conductor’s compartment. Someone left a go pro bag and either a fancy camera lens or a large Bluetooth speaker on a table across from us. We thought it belonged to someone at the table. The older couple thought it belonged to the younger guy at the table, but he said it was his friend’s (we never saw a friend). At the next stop, someone called the conductor over and everyone said it wasn’t theirs. I’m not sure when the young man left but at the next stop the armed police came on the train and took possession of the stuff. All of this happened in French so I’m surmising a bit, but we think that was the gist of the train excitement. The older couple followed the “see something say something” rule. The young guy seemed suspicious.

Once we got to the Geneva train station, I needed to find the restroom. They charge to go to the bathroom at the station, but at least they had tap and pay!!!!🤣🤣🤣

We are staying a block from Lake Geneva and started the city right with a ride on the Grand Roue Geneva, the Ferris wheel!🎡 🎡

Wiki: The Jet d'Eau fountain in Geneva was first created around 1886. Five hundred litres (130 US gal) of water per second are jetted to an altitude of 140 metres (460 ft) by two 500 kW pumps, operating at 2,400 V, consuming one megawatt of electricity and costing 510,000 CHF per year.

I think the city built it as a tourist attraction, even back then. It’s pretty cool and certainly stands out in the shore line. These first shots are from the Ferris wheel.

Then there is the flower clock. Wiki: L'horloge fleurie, or the flower clock, is an outdoor flower clock located on the western side of Jardin Anglais park in Geneva, Switzerland. Around 6,500 flowering plants and shrubs are used for the clock face. The plants are changed as the seasons change.

Sadly, there were no cathedrals, basilicas, or plain old churches in today’s game plan.

The fountain from the ground.
