Day 30 - Barcelona, Spain

First, I cannot believe we’ve been gone thirty days. What an amazing trip so far. And more amazingly, no meltdowns among either of us (a lot of togetherness can lead to an occasional melt down-can I hear an amen!). Today we continued seeing sites around Barcelona.

Wiki: Santa Maria Del Mar (Saint Mary of the Sea) is a church in the Ribera district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, built between 1329 and 1383 at the height of Principality of Catalonia's maritime and mercantile preeminence. It is an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic, with a purity and unity of style that is very unusual in large medieval buildings.

We all lit candles for our mothers.

Then we went to the Barcelona Cathedral. Wiki: The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, also known as Barcelona Cathedral, is the seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. The cathedral was constructed from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, with the principal work done in the fourteenth century.

The churches we’ve seen have been amazingly beautiful. It’s hard to put into words and pictures just how stunning they are. I encourage people to see for themselves.

I spent the afternoon with the PJ and Dianna crew. We went back to Sagrada Familia with the kids (6,5,3) and they lasted a strong 45 minutes.

The big kids: after a nice sight seeing lunch at the beach, Martha, Linda, and Jerry went to the aquarium for the afternoon. I’m a little jealous as they saw some cool sea life. Aquariums are not just for children. They were in awe of all the species on display. Then there was a moving walkway that went into a tunnel and they were surrounded on three sides of marine life. Linda captured the octopus video. He so wanted to go home with them.

This was the winner of the ugliest fish contest. I mean really, what happened to the rest is him? How does he move?

And at the end of the day, we rested, at a restaurant, with 🍷
