It’s moving day! We’re off to the Greek island of Zakynthos. Why you ask? Well, Georgia has cut my hair since I moved to Dallas in 1991. She is a native of Greece and last year she took her kids and grandkids to Greece and specifically Zakynthos. If it was good enough for them, it’s good enough for us.
First we had to get from the hotel to the airport, fill up, and return the rental car. Google maps (and Martha’s blue dot) were having some trouble keeping up with my wrong turns this morning, so 2 or 3 additional turns were necessary, with some associated words. Julie tell Chip when you fill up near the rental car lot, it’s all self service. I messed up in the parking garage, didn’t wait for the gate to go up but pulled a ticket. My bad, see you $2.00. I’m not sorry that’s our only rental car of the summer.
To get to Zakynthos we are flying through Athens. Air Serbia at the Belgrade airport is like AA in Dallas, many, many gates from which to choose. And the weird Euro thing of not assigning gates until the last possible minute so the passengers are sprinting to get there in time is not helpful.
This travel day is the diciest of our trip. We have to get from Belgrade on Air Serbia to Athens, get our luggage, yes we checked as it was a small plane with small overhead space, check in to our next flight on Olympic Air, and get to the gate. I built in hours from landing in Athens to the second flight, and we needed almost all of it.
In Athens we met up with our friends Jerry and Linda. And for those who know the Thompsons; no, not that Jerry and Linda. Jerry and Linda flew in from the states this morning so I’m sure they’re a bit tired. But not too tired for our first drink in Greece!!!
Also we laid in provisions in case everything is closed by the time we land.
Extra Screening Pat Down counter: 4 (MD-3 MT-1)
Offense: Martha-I purposely did not cover Holey Moley's bandages with plastic just to see if it made a difference. It did not. They went right for my side. Now, I have Plan C developing in my mind.
And, to answer a couple of texts I’ve received, yes, HM is doing fine, and yes, I changed his name. I was calling him Holey Grail, but after a couple of months, he still hadn’t produced anything good. Hence the name change.
