We left Killarney on Sunday morning and headed to Blarney Castle and gardens. Linda, Martha, and I have already kissed the stone. For a variety of reasons, Lorraine, Eileen, and Teri are skipping the climb and the kiss. As usual, the scenery on the way to the castle is beautiful.
The castle and the grounds are so beautiful.
The Titanic Experience in Cobh. This was the final port before the Titanic set off across the Atlantic. 123 souls boarded Titanic in Queenstown (as Cobh was known then) and only 44 survived. When you go through the experience, you get a ticket for an actual person who boarded the Titanic. At the end, you look up the person to determine their fate. Linda, Eileen, Martha and I survived on the same lifeboat. Lorraine survived as well. Teri, sadly did not. There’s a picture of the Captain and the Pursor, their last picture. Wow.
The Lusitania survivors were taken to Cobh. There is a memorial near the harbor, where a street fair was taking place.
And for the first time in 62 days, it is raining outside. Haha rain, we are already in for the evening and about to go to Teri’s room for our evening debrief, with wine of course!
