Happy 4th of July🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We wondered if they had the 4th of July in England. Turns out they do, but… it’s just Monday.

It was moving day today. We left London via train for Liverpool.

Unlike tube or subway trips, your train platform is up in the air until about 10 minutes before the scheduled leave time. This is the same in the US, at least in DC and NYC. Once they announced our platform (2, which was my guess), the masses headed toward the platform. Unbeknownst to us, the previous train to Liverpool had been canceled so it was a complete Sh&* show to swipe tickets and board the train. A surprising number of people had luggage as did we; so it was crazy packed. As we made our way down the ramp toward ticketing, the train conductors gave up and opened up the gates and everyone just walked through, no ticket swiping needed.

Happily, Maggie had reserved seats for the trip, so we were not scrounging around for unencumbered seats. Somehow we even found room for our luggage. Then it was 2 uneventful hours to Liverpool.

Our hotel, yes another freaking Marriott, was less than a quarter mile from the train station, so we trekked on over and checked into the penthouse suite. It’s a two month trip, occasionally we need room to spread out and have ‘own’ time. The hotel is centrally located with sights, pubs, and restaurants all around.

We found Bold Street for dinner and Martha showed off her red, white, and blue. Maggie completely forgot to pack for the holiday, lol.
