Stratford-upon-Avon SUA, a medieval market town in England’s West Midlands, is the 16th-century birthplace of William Shakespeare. Possibly the most famous writer in the English language, Shakespeare is known for his sonnets and plays such as 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Hamlet'. The Royal Shakespeare Company performs his plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon.

When we were looking at the map to determine what to do in SUA, we noticed that the first spot of interest was Anne Hathaway’s house. We could not understand why anyone would care about Anne Hathaway in SUA. Upon further research, we learned she was the wife of William Shakespeare. Ahhhh, now it makes sense. However, we still didn’t go to her house. We did visit Shakespeare’s house. It is hard to believe people lived in such small spaces back in the day.

Hit the hay originated in these times to flatten the hay beds. Sleep tight came from tightening the ropes under the hay to keep the bed from sagging.

We went in the Stratford Big Wheel.

We walked around the town or at least the River part.
